Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it. ” – Andy Warhol

Will Crane Artist Highlight

Will Crane Artist Highlight

The newest artist to be featured in our Artist Highlight is Will Crane.  Will is a pop surrealism artist based in Alabama.

All kinds of creatures and characters are running around in Will’s head. They all find a place to fit into his compositions. From mild to wild, skulls to butterflies and a rainbow assortment in between.

A Dreamer’s Paradise

Crane’s vocabulary ranges from mysterious to charming, juxtaposing commonplace and disturbing, creating a subtle uneasiness in the viewer. Crane’s paintings are full of contrasting images that seem to fit together only in a dreamer’s paradise.

Influences That Created the Artist’s Direction

Will Crane was born May 27, 1968, and grew up in Brewton, Alabama. He collected comic books and made frequent trips to the library for art books. Here he discovered Dali and Magritte. These artists would have a lasting effect on Will’s developing visual vocabulary. Time passed, and modern pop surrealists influenced his work some more.
